What kind of career is bein a life coach?

Question: I finally found my life calling, and it is to be a Life Coach or Personal Coach. I have no idea what is the best way to study this relatively new field, so I can become one. I see online “schools,” and they’re very expensive. Are they necessary? What is the best route to go overall? Thanks!

” – by ” Ron R

Answer: The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you’re interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you’ll inevitably have as well as many you haven’t anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Getting Started in Personal and Executive Coaching: How to Create a Thriving Coaching Practice by Stephen G. Fairley, Chris E. Stout

* The Life Coaching Handbook by Curly Martin

* Total Life Coaching: 50+ Life Lessons, Skills, and Techniques to Enhance Your Practice…and Your Life by Patrick Williams

* Coaching Manual: The Definitive Guide to the Process, Principles & Skills of Personal Coaching Paperback by Julie Starr

I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Question: I am interested in Counseling. My passion is to help people solve their problems and achieve their dreams.

How can I become a professional Life Coach? Are there certain certifications or degrees that you would recommend?

I am currently looking at obtaining a Neuro Linguistic Programming ( NLP) Practitioner certification.

I would truly appreciate your help.

” – by ” Classy girl

Answer: Hi.

Depending on the requirements in your country, you may wish to consider a Diploma or Degree in Counselling or Social Work, etc. from a reputable school/institutes to pursue counselling as a career. Couselling works pretty differently form Life Coaching as there is no strict regulation or a national standards on what makes a Life Coach. Having said that, a diploma/degree does gives a good impresssion and credibility to a person if he wants a career in Life Coaching.

As for NLP, the tools which are taught during the training are also useful in Life Coaching as well depending on how you use them.

Cheers!

Question: I had heard of an organization in Southern Calfornia that supports women who have been battered to create completely new lives with a job and home using hair stylists, therapists, coaches, home renovation folks, etc. The particular organization (which I can’t remember the name of) already had a life coach that was providing support for their particular area. I’d like to find another organization in Southern California where I could volunteer my services. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Answer: Life coaching for women who have been battered is a great idea and awesome that you want to volunteer in that capacity! Here’s a (long) list of over 150 agencies that specialize in domestic violence services in California:

Question: I am looking to become a life coach soon. I love helping people. I am creative and idealistic. I have a broad and excellent customer service background and am very good at talking to people. Please help with suggestions. Thank you!

” – by ” Tia C

Answer: I think a great starting point is a personal trainer. That helps people. While working in that field I would look into life coach training. See if your state has any requirements or licenses for that work (check your local community college). If not, you can find plenty of educational opportunities online.

Question: Right now, I study psychology. But I want to be a life coach focusing on stress and time management as well as health. I also want to be a physical trainer. How long will all of this take?

” – by ” Dantaya M

Answer: I’ve been both a Certified Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer and I can tell you this: The days of printing up business cards and just calling yourself a life coach are over. Clients today are more wary than ever of working with unqualified professionals. Reputable coach training programs take about two years to complete. The good news is that they are less expensive than college and you will actually use what you learned in your coaching business. A good personal training certification will take less time. Get both. Most coaches and trainers don’t make much money, but the best ones make a really great living. Be the best.

Question: I realize many of you have preconceived notions about Life Coaches, but I am currently a student studying Mental Health Counseling and would like to make a little extra income on Liveperson, but need the credentials to be a Life Coach before I could become an “expert” since I only have my Bachelor’s in Psychology. Any recommendations? The cheapest I’ve seen is $397.

Answer: I agree with Kend Life Coaching is an awesome career field & for now there is no laws governing coaching. However, I notice that a lot of the schools do honor the ethics of the ICF. The ICF started just like every other institute it is not a government entity. It is like a McDonalds and Burger King…It is just your choice where you decide to be educated. They do not RULE the world of LIFE COACHING. Yes, all schools should have ethics. However, education and training would not work for me for a whole year to learn what I already know,. i would go to a school to be certified to enhance my experiences and build a network of coaches where we can share innovative ideas… I worked with a Life Coach. The experience was great. The person I worked with did not go to an expensive school. I worked with them because they was certified and worked in the community for years “Helping Other’s” we spend a lot of money on music and entertainment. Why Not pay someone their worth because they want you to have a healthier and Happy Life. I checked out the site for the life coach training institute & spencer Institute. After, reviewing it seems that they both will be affordable along with finding the one that is the best fit for you. Life coaching is for healthy motivated individuals. One seems geared toward fitness coaching. The other one seems like it is a family based environment for people who need the face-to-face experience. The choice is always yours? Build a network and make the network for you. Have a wonderful day.

Answer: All she has to do is open a business and call herself a “personal life coach.” Coaching is not a regulated field, so anyone can call themselves a coach and charge whatever they want.

Question: I love giving advice and helping people. I’m thinking of majoring in counseling, but do I even need a degree to become a life coach? If you are one, please tell me if you like your job.

” – by ” Sweets

Answer: Dear Sweets

You are my kindred spirit! I love giving advice and helping people as well.

I see that you are a little confused here.

Counseling is very different from life coaching. Coaching is bringing the best out of people from their existing state. Counseling is looking at their past in order to solve their existing problems.

You don’t need a degree to be a life coach, although most coaches have a degree or higher qualifications of sorts. You can look at the International Coaching Federation website for more information about life coaching (coachfederation.org)

Good luck!

Question: I am considering becoming a life coach on the advice of some friends I helped through a bad spot. The problem is, I’m not sure if one needs to be certified or if the certification programs are scams. Is anyone doing this for a living? What are some good programs to check out? (Yes, I appreciate the humor in asking for advice on life-coaching.)

Not to be rude to those entrepreneurial souls among us, but please don’t link me to some site you’re hawking which will not help me. I’m actually seeking information.

I’ve looked online; that’s where I see the certification courses. I just don’t know how reliable they are.

Answer: Danny Bonaduce on WYSP – 94.1 FM in Philadelphia – has a 15 minute a day Life Coach segment on his radio show – even has his own Theme song with a hard rock beat

very few people probably make a living – you have to be very charismatic, have to put a lot of time and money into having free seminars to convince people you might be able to help them – probably a degree in Psychology or something related would be standard or like Danny B – done everything worng in your life and know how to benefit from that knowledge ad help others

Finding A Life Coach: What Is A Life Coach And What Makes A Good One?

As a life coach, part of my job is to support my clients in having amazing relationships with everyone in their life. But often I find that a person’s primary relationship with their spouse, lover, or partner is the most significant and influential.

I have often read that you don’t need specific life coaching training or a degree to become a life coach. That may be true, but you will need life coaching training and experience to become a life coach who makes a decent salary.

The Quotation Fiend: When life coaches create websites, they often plaster each page with inspirational quotations, by everyone from Shakespeare to Goethe to Einstein. But as you read through the written content of these sententious websites, you discover that they consist of fatuous clichés — stuff about “empowerment, outside the box,” “accountability,” and “actionable goals.” What an incongruous mixture of shallow and profound!

Strictly speaking, anyone can become a life coach as no formal qualifications are needed and the industry is currently unregulated. However, it is always better to obtain proper accreditation as this proves to potential clients that you are a professional and that you work to a high, ethical standard.

To succeed as a life coach, you need to have high levels of self-discipline and self-motivation. You need to have a sincere interest in human behaviour and the way people think, as you will be required to inspire confidence in clients who are often quite shy and in need of direction. You need to be confident and unafraid to tackle difficult issues head-on, as people who use life coaches quite often need to face difficult truths before they can make progress towards their personal goals.

It perhaps goes without saying that to be a good life coach; you need to be a good listener. People will come to you with a vast range of problems, and you need to be able to process the information and offer realistic solutions. As a life coach, you need to be a good communicator and have the ability to offer advice in a positive, articulate manner. Clients invest a lot of trust in life coaches, and one of the ways you can prove your trustworthiness is by always listening intently and striving to give pertinent advice.

If you possess all of these skills and can combine it with an ability to inspire people, then life coaching could be the ideal career for you. If you do decide to make the career change, be sure to do plenty of research and try to find a specialist area if you can. By specialising in a particular form of life coaching, you give yourself a unique selling point and you are likely to feel much more confident in your abilities.

There are obstacles on the path to happiness and fulfillment that are not just formidable, but downright perplexing. They require that we decide among alternatives, each with implications that are difficult to foresee. That;s when we might wish to consult with someone with insight into the challenges we face, and the worldly wisdom to help us discover a practical solution. They should also offer encouragement and help us to regain our equilibrium, should we stumble on our journey. Might that person be a life coach?

Seeking to have more significant relationships? Manifest much more money? Or even get to the gym more frequently? The Secret to Life Coaching is an over-the-phone mentorship program wich works to get there personal life coaching clients what they dream of in life. CEO Coral Thomas founded The Secret to Life Coaching seven years ago, and the personal life coaching program has developed to have more than 40 personal life coaches and professional life coach training facilitators.

Dreaming One;s Life Away: Most life coaches encourage their clients to achieve their dreams. They are like personal motivational speakers, in that regard. On their websites, we often see images of smiling, apparently highly successful people, often enjoying a tropical vacation. The message is that you too can fulfill your dreams and be like them!

The negative thing of this online approach towards the life coaching is the probability of cheating. Numerous online frauds take the opportunity to use the life training program as an income source. These training programs cannot provide quality service to the customers as they do not have any skilled life coach. Their main target is to take your money by any means and they make a general guidebook that they provide to every customer. They do not use different methods for different customers; which is the right approach to do the job.

Law Of Attraction, A Spiritual Journey - A Free Article By Richard

The law of attraction is considered to be very successful in bringing you anything you would like to have. If truth be told, anything that you have in mind will be yours sooner or later given that you are keeping to each and every rule there is designed for law of attraction as it should be.

If you want to practice your ability to turn thoughts into reality, then a couple of law of attraction exercises are just what you need. By engaging in these activities, you?re conditioning your mind to manifest your dreams in life.

That’s not really the point of the Law of Attraction. Yes, it does claim that we can attract things that we fear will happen. Athletes can’t afford to worry about a game, they have to go out and play their best, with a focus on winning the game. If they let their mind drift, and worry that they may make a mistake, then there’s a good chance that they will.

Practical Metaphysics goes several steps further. Not only do ideas exist apart from physical reality, but those ideas exist in a form of cosmic mind. Finally, practical metaphysics says that we have the ability to influence the cosmic mind. In ancient days, this teaching was known as the occult. Today, it is known as the law of attraction.

The Myth: “The Law of Attraction is just about visualization. That’s why they tell you to create vision boards and the like. You’re supposed to stare at the things you want and they will just come to you (see Myth #1)”

The Law of Attraction has received a great deal of media attention in recent years. Thanks to the movie The Secret and the following explosion of television, print media and internet coverage, nearly everyone in Western society has heard the phrase “Law of Attraction”. Most people, however, have picked up little pieces and incomplete information here and there and don’t really have a solid understanding of how the law works.

The Law of Attraction doesn’t just literally drop stuff in your lap. It brings you meetings with just the right people at the right time, brilliant ideas and coincidences. It’s your job to pay attention to those ideas, follow your hunches and recognize the coincidences.

Actually, the law of attraction is not new at all. In fact, it’s ancient. A direct statement of it is in the Bible when Jesus Christ said, “Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.” Besides, Jesus Christ, the Buddha, Krishna, and Lao Tse have also mentioned it.

There is ever in operation this marvelous law of Attraction and Repulsion of Mental Energy – Persons allowing their thoughts to run along certain lines, and permitting the feelings to be expressed in certain ways, draw to themselves the Thought-Waves and mental influences of others keyed to the same mental key-note. And likewise they repel the waves and influences of an opposing nature.

The reason it does appear new to most people is because the idea has been repressed culturally. There are many reasons why this has happened, ranging from political ideology to economic favoritism. The law of attraction was kept secret to restrict power to the few.

FINDS TRUE DESIRE. When building the foundation for wealth and creating your wealth affirmation, a key point is to identify the root emotion behind wanting something. In other words, in learning how to manifest what you want, you first have to really “find out exactly what you want on an emotional level.” For example, if you want a luxury car, ask yourself if you want it for “ego purposes,” or for “luxury because you deserve it” purposes. No matter what the reason, once you identify the true emotion behind getting the material object, you have the emotional charge to invoke the Law of Attraction and discover the secret of wealth.

b. A person knows about the Law of Attraction, but does not know how to use it. Since there are many ways of informing the subconscious mind, this person is confused as to what the best procedure is to follow. Should this person visualize, affirm, get into the feeling of having it now, etc? Should this person follow the procedure outlined by this teacher or that one? This is the paralysis of analysis.
